Our adoption process
Step 1
Meet & Greet: Visit the cat café and spend time interacting with the cats. Get to know their personalities and see which one you bond with best. Our staff will be on hand to answer questions and provide information about each cat’s history, temperament, and needs.
Step 2
Adoption Application: Once you’ve found a potential match, please complete the adoption application form listed in the cat’s profile. This helps us understand your home environment, experience with pets, and what you’re looking for in a furry companion.
Since we partner with multiple rescue organizations, each location has its own form and process. Please make sure to choose the correct form for the right kitty!
Step 3
Interview & Approval: Our adoption team will review your application and schedule a brief interview to discuss your experience, expectations, and any specific questions. If everything aligns, we will approve your adoption and discuss next steps.
Step 4
Home Prep & Final Adoption: Prepare your home with essentials like food, litter, and scratching posts. Once ready, schedule a time to pick up your new cat. We’ll provide resources and tips for a smooth transition, as well as follow-up support for any questions during the adjustment period.
Adoption FAQ
What are your requirements for adopters?
We want to ensure that every cat goes to a loving and responsible home. To adopt, you must be at least 18 years old, have a stable living situation, and provide proof of your home’s pet policy if you rent. We also ask that you be ready to offer a safe, enriching environment for your new feline friend.
What is included in the adoption fee?
The adoption fee covers the following:
- Comprehensive wellness exam
- At least one age-appropriate vaccine (FVRCP)
- Spay/neuter surgery & ear tattoo
- Deworming treatment
Cleocatra Cafe does not take any commission from the adoption fee.
100% of the fee goes directly to our rescue partner to help save more animals.How long does the adoption process take?
The entire process can vary depending on application volume and specific circumstances but usually takes between 1-2 weeks from the time you submit your application to when you take your new cat home.
What should I bring when I come to pick up my new cat?
Please bring a secure carrier for your new cat to travel home safely. If possible, bring proof of ID and any adoption paperwork we’ve provided. We’ll give you everything else you need to get started!
Who is your adoption partner?
Our cats come from a network of non-profit animal rescues across Canada. Through these partnerships, Cleocatra provides a safe, nurturing space where rescued cats can heal and grow comfortable around people.
Our cat café serves as a bridge to adoption, allowing potential adopters to meet, connect, and bond with the cats in a warm, relaxed environment – while giving mistreated, injured, and abandoned animals a second chance at life.
