Benjamin was rescued from an area of the city densely overpopulated with strays. The rescue was on an intake freeze but he ran up to our volunteer, asking to be taken. At his neuter, Benjamin was discovered to have a serious and life threatening medical issue – a diaphragmatic hernia which resulted in all of his internal organs migrated into his chest cavity. The vet warned of a negative prognosis given the extent of his injury but this boy was up for the fight and went in for emergency surgery that night. His follow-up exam was free and clear of any concerns or complications and Benjamin is now ready for the good life, with his medical woes and life on the streets long behind him.
